Paying Attention To The Signs (Even When We Don’t Want To)

Happy Friday y’all!

I want to dive in a little about something I know has touched us all at one point or another. You may even find yourself there right this very minute. It’s OK, my sister or brother. I have been there too many times myself. No judgment from this camp. Nope.

It’s funny how we only see what we want to see when we really want something. We get fixated on the warm fuzzy part(s) and forget the other part(s). Parts that blink a warning sign or sometimes just a nudge, sometimes a yell to “Run like hell!!” or a whisper in your soul something wicked this way comes. Parts that gave us pause, the grey areas, things that made us go “Hmmm” but never lend a clear answer.

So we let our hearts do the leading, which just isn’t always the best path. The word tells us the human heart is deceitful above all things. ALL things? Wow. That’s pretty heavy. I will tell you that my heart had led me down some roads I was 1000% sure I should be going down & alas, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Let’s face it & admit it. Even the strongest among us can fall prey, especially when we are vulnerable.

If we can get ourselves untangled – even briefly- from the scratchy blanket we have wrapped around us & convinced ourselves feels nice, & really look in & back, from the outside – the warning signs, the whispers, the things that were blurry, gave us pause – suddenly become clear again. IF we genuinely want to see the truth. IF we genuinely want God’s best for ourselves.

So pay attention this time. Choose the best for you, not necessarily the most familiar. Even if it hurts like hell. And it probably will. Choose it anyway. And do it with grace & class. Because this too shall pass.

You’ll be thankful you did. Really, really thankful.

Much love & try, try, trying again,

Bonnie
