I have been in a bit of a writing rut so when that happens I like to find old things I have shared & written- hope you enjoy ~
“None of us has ever seen a motive. Therefore, we don’t know we can’t do anything more than suspect what inspires the action of another. For this good and valid reason, we’re told not to judge. Tragedy is that our attention centers on what people are not, rather than on what they are & who they might become.” ~ Brennan Manning
I love this quote. If you really pay attention to what it says it’s quite profound.
I have judged and been judged. We all struggle with it. We love to wrap up our motives up in decorated excuses. “Well, but she did this or he did that and….” How about maybe what we have done – are we excluded from the truth of our own mistakes, of hurting others, of doing things we shouldn’t? We all act out of our own pain, our own jealousies, our own experiences. I’ll raise my hand first – guilty.
If we will err on the side of letting our gavels drop to the ground, I assure you, we will have more peace & find more love growing in our lives. And in truth, besides love, the greatest gift I’ve gotten in recent years is peace y’all. If you don’t have it (like me for most of my life), once you taste it you’ll be addicted.
And when you start to lose it, that’s your barometer that something is amiss and you need to readjust those sails.
Much love & sweet peace y’all,
